ルールThere のあとの be動詞は、後ろの名詞が単数なら is、複数なら are、過去なら was／were にすること。疑問文には there を使って答えること。場所は文の最後に〈前置詞＋名詞〉で置くこと。

採点が終わったら：どの型で落としたかを見る

点数より「どの大問を落としたか」が大事です。落とした大問を下の表で引くと、原因と対策がわかります。

1is／are・was／were の選び方be動詞は後ろの名詞で決まる。単数（a ～）や数えられない名詞（milk・water）は is／was、複数（two ～・many ～・any ～s）は are／were。ago・yesterday・last ～ があれば過去の was／were。my bag・the book など特定のものは There is を使わず、My bag is on the desk. と言う。
2場所を表す前置詞on（～の上に・接して）、in（～の中に）、under（～の下に）、near（～の近くに）、in front of（～の前に）、between A and B（AとBの間に）。There is ～ のあとに〈前置詞＋場所〉を置く。
3否定文・疑問文の作り方否定文は be動詞のあとに not（There isn’t／aren’t）、疑問文は be動詞を there の前に出す（Is there ～?）。否定文・疑問文では some を any にする。「1つもない」は There is[are] no ～. でも表せる。
4答え方・How manyIs／Are／Was／Were there ～? には there と同じ be動詞で答える（Yes, there is.／No, there weren’t.）。「いくつありますか」は〈How many＋複数名詞＋are there ～?〉で、答えは There are ～. 。
5語順が作れない〈There＋be動詞＋名詞＋場所（前置詞＋名詞）＋時〉の順。疑問文は〈Be動詞＋there＋名詞 ～?〉、How many の疑問文は〈How many＋名詞＋are there ～?〉。
6日本語からの組み立て「～がある・いる」は There is／are、過去なら There was／were。まず名詞の数と時を確認して be動詞を決め、最後に場所を〈前置詞＋名詞〉で置く。複数形のつづり（library→libraries）にも注意。

  2. 大問2で場所を表す前置詞を覚える
  3. 大問3・4で否定文・疑問文と答え方、How many ～ are there? を反復する
